Permeable Paving
Gallery
Permeable paving is an option that not only looks attractive, but also has great environmental benefits. When standard paving is used, water runs off the surface into the street and storm drains. During a heavy rainfall, water gushes into the drains, putting pressure on water infrastructure. Permeable paving allows water to seep through into the ground, just as nature intended. Stormwater run-off is reduced and water management is improved. For many home- and business-owners, permeable paving is the smart, eco-friendly choice.
SmartStone Grassblock
The SmartStone Grassblock is designed to combine the benefits of paving and vegetation. Grass, on its own, is not suited to vehicular traffic. Too much paving can cause water management problems. Combine the two, however, and you have a win-win situation.
The SmartStone Grassblock has a modern linear shape, as opposed to the more commonly used honeycomb-shaped blocks. It is designed with cavities that allow grass to grow through. Ideal for driveways and parking areas, it provides good load-bearing capacity and harmonises with the natural surroundings. The grass helps maximise soil water retention, protecting against erosion and giving colour and life to the area.
SmartStone Grassblocks are available at the following branches:
Gauteng, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Nelspruit, Cape Town, and Mozambique.
